The San Angel Inn is one of our favorites on the World Showcase, but it's not necessarily all about the food. We have had good and excellent meals at the San Angel Inn, but not necessarily more so than the Mexican restaurants we frequent in our home town. Don't get us wrong, the food has always been excellent as has the service, it's just that we can get food just as good at home.
What we can't get in our home town is the fantastic ambiance that the San Angel Inn offers. Located inside of the Aztec temple of the Mexico Pavilion, the restaurant is located next to the town square, and overlooks the Grand Fiesta Tour attraction (formerly Rio de Tiempo), there is always a night sky overhead, and a view of a pyramid in the distance. Though bustling, there is a very cosy and intimate feeling when dining at the San Angel Inn. It is also a most romantic spot.
To be adventurous, venture away from the typical Mexican fare and try one of the chef's suggestions. There is also a very good vegetarian menu, though you must ask your server for it.
For all the years we have been visiting Epcot, we have always enjoyed the San Angel Inn.
